Jack Irish is a series of Australian television movies adapted from the detective novels by Peter Temple. The series stars Guy Pearce in the lead role of Jack Irish, a former criminal lawyer turned private investigator and debt collector. The telemovies have been adapted by screenwriters Andrew Knight and Matt Cameron, and directed by Jeffrey Walker. Roy plays Harry Strang, Jack's boss, an old school racing identity who has amassed a fortune by pulling the wool over the eyes of unsuspecting bookies.
